We’re launching our very first T-shirt.

Designed with the same quiet confidence as the rest of our Essentials collection, we’ve spent hours refining our T-shirts to make them versatile, durable and comfortable, but it all starts with the finest raw material.

These T-shirts can be layered up, dressed down and worn time and time again. This is a lifetime T-shirt. An instant favourite.

But how did this supima cotton white T-shirt first take shape?

Well, we’re here to show you how with some sneak peeks behind the scenes at our factory.

This T-shirt is made using supima cotton, 2,500 stitches, expert cutting skills and lots of small tweaks.

Spinning, knitting, stitching
When selecting a fabric for our summer tee it was a no brainier. We have been working with this particular mill in Italy since the very start.

It’s a family-run business that was started by Sergio in 1997 in Prato, Italy.

Sergio had always dreamt of owning his own knitting plant and after 40 years of working in the industry, he was able to start one with the help of a small bank loan and financial support from his family.

The mill today supplies every major luxury brand in Europe. They are not the biggest but they are the best.

They have limited production and have no desire of expanding. Sergio believes in keeping it small to keep the quality consistent. More control, more flexibility, better service.

It’s near impossible to get your foot through the door at this mill. The only reason they will sell to us, is because my Dad was one of Sergio’s first customers.

They only ever met once – the day my dad placed his first order – but they spoke on the phone nearly every week.

Their relationship was strong enough for Sergio to attend my dad’s funeral 10 years ago.

The fabric Sergio supplies us is lightweight, durable and exceptionally smooth. It’s made by twisting pairs of the fibres together to make a strong, fine yarn, which passes each thread over a flame to burn off the overhanging ends.

Then, it's double spun to remove any last remaining microscopic impurities from the yarn.

It takes a lot of work – but it makes for the cleanest, softest, most comfortable fabric.

At the cutting table
When the fabric arrives at the factory, it’s time to whip our supima cotton T-shirts into shape.

The details of the pattern are essential. It’s these small measurements that give the T-shirt its shape and fit. We cut the fabric by hand using nothing else but a straight knife and a razor eye for detail.

Once we have the T-shirt shape, it’s time to put it into production.

Stitch by stitch
This is where we take the T-shirt in loose pieces and put it together, stitch by stitch to make the final piece.

Every person in our team of stitchers has an individual task and once the T-shirt reaches the final person in the production line, it’s fully formed and ready for one last quality check.

Quality for you
We’ve put a lot of hard work into our T-shirts but it’s all to make sure our T-shirts can work hard for you.

So what are you waiting for? Bag yourself an supima cotton T-shirt like you’ve never met before.
